Clark County Seniors Find the End Zone Against No. 1 Centralia on Senior Night

Category: Local Sports

KAHOKA, Mo. - Clark County celebrated its senior class and welcomed quarterback Bennett Plenge back from injury Friday night, finding success through the air against Class 2’s top-ranked team. The Indians received touchdown catches from seniors Lukas Weaver and Reid Sammons, but Centralia’s explosive rushing attack carried the Panthers to a 62-20 victory in Clarence Cannon Conference play.

Plenge threw for an unofficial 194 yards and two touchdowns in his return, helping Clark County produce several promising possessions. Centralia countered with a single-wing offense powered by Oliver Bohlmeyer, who finished with an unofficial 264 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries.

The Panthers built a 16-6 advantage during the opening quarter, with Weaver accounting for Clark County’s first touchdown on a reception from Plenge. Centralia opened the second period with another rushing touchdown just five seconds into the quarter, then added Bohlmeyer’s two-point conversion run to extend the lead to 24-6.

Clark County answered with a well-executed scoring drive. Plenge connected with Weaver to move into Centralia territory, Landon Roberts contributed a productive run, and a completion to Grady Webster helped the Indians reach the Panthers’ 30-yard line.

On third-and-10, Plenge found Sammons for a 30-yard touchdown with 9:41 remaining in the half. Sammons followed by making a contested catch on the two-point conversion, trimming the deficit to 24-14 and giving the Indians another scoring connection between seniors.

Centralia responded with a long Bohlmeyer run that carried the Panthers to the two-yard line. Charlie Robinson finished the drive with a touchdown, and the successful conversion restored an 18-point advantage at 32-14.

The Indians moved into Centralia territory again on their next possession, but the drive stalled. An incomplete pass on a fourth-down trick play gave the Panthers possession at their own 41-yard line. Two plays later, Bohlmeyer broke free for a 44-yard touchdown, and Robinson added the conversion to make it 40-14 with 6:57 remaining before halftime.

Bohlmeyer scored again with 1:29 left in the second quarter. Conner Waples broke up the two-point conversion pass, holding the margin at 46-14. Clark County continued attacking through the air before the break, including another substantial gain on a completion to Weaver, but a late interception ended the Indians’ final opportunity of the half.

Centralia added to its lead in the third quarter after Trenton Brooks intercepted a pass. His return to the end zone was erased by a block-in-the-back penalty, but the Panthers retained possession. Bohlmeyer later broke loose for a 42-yard gain to set up Cody Prater’s seven-yard touchdown run, with Robinson’s conversion making it 54-14.

Walker Adkisson added a six-yard rushing touchdown later in the quarter. Bentley Mosser converted the two-point attempt, giving Centralia a 62-14 advantage entering the fourth.

Clark County’s final scoring possession featured a memorable moment for senior Daron Shotts. After an earlier pass slipped through his hands, Shotts secured a tipped ball for a 15-yard reception and a first down. His teammates celebrated around him as the catch helped move the Indians into scoring position.

Treyvin Hamner took over at quarterback later in the drive and helped advance Clark County toward the goal line. He finished the possession with a one-yard touchdown run, bringing the score to 62-20 after the unsuccessful conversion attempt.

Weaver led the Indians with an unofficial 97 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Sammons added 84 receiving yards and a score. Webster contributed in both the passing and running games, and Cash Wilson supplied a late defensive highlight by bringing down a Centralia runner for a substantial loss following a mishandled snap.

Centralia also received an unofficial 87 rushing yards from Cooper Gehring, 40 yards and two touchdowns from Robinson, and 31 yards and a touchdown from Prater. With Ethan Ross unavailable, the Panthers continued generating big plays through Bohlmeyer and their deep backfield.

Clark County and head coach Ethan Allen now prepare for a conference road game at Highland. Centralia, led by head coach Tyler Lorsee, turns its attention to Palmyra.
