Macon Scores 63 Unanswered Points to Spoil Clark County's Homecoming

KAHOKA, Mo. – Clark County opened homecoming night with a touchdown drive and an early lead Friday, but Macon took control from there, defeating the Indians 63–7.

The Tigers scored seven touchdowns before halftime, building a 49–7 advantage behind a balanced offensive attack and a defense that repeatedly disrupted Clark County’s possessions. Macon improved to 4–2, while the Indians fell to 1–5.

Sophomore quarterback Treyvin Hamner gave Clark County’s homecoming crowd an early reason to cheer. Starting in place of Bennett Plenge, Hamner connected with Cash Wilson for a 49-yard touchdown with 8:19 remaining in the first quarter. Luke Scott added the extra point for a 7–0 lead.

Two Macon personal foul penalties helped extend the opening possession, and Dallas Davis recovered a fumble to keep the ball with the Indians. Wilson then broke free down the middle for Clark County’s lone touchdown.

Macon needed just 1 minute, 20 seconds to answer. Talen Holman scored on a 15-yard quarterback keeper, and Joey Robertson’s extra point tied the game at 7–7 with 6:59 left in the opening quarter.

Rance Crouch helped swing the momentum on Clark County’s next possession, intercepting Hamner to give the Tigers the ball near midfield. Macon converted the takeaway into a 4-yard touchdown pass from Holman to Aydenn Allen, taking a 14–7 lead with 3:02 remaining.

Hunter Deuser added a 24-yard touchdown run with 19 seconds left in the quarter, pushing Macon’s advantage to 21–7. The Tigers continued to create problems up front, combining pressure on Hamner with tackles behind the line of scrimmage as the Indians struggled to sustain drives.

Crouch opened the second-quarter scoring with a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown. The extra point was unsuccessful, but Macon’s lead grew to 27–7 with 10:58 left before halftime.

Levi Vanatta followed with a 62-yard touchdown run midway through the quarter. Paxton Jones ran in the two-point conversion to make it 35–7, and Deuser scored his second rushing touchdown on a 16-yard carry with 1:13 remaining.

The Tigers squeezed in one more score before the break. After stopping Clark County on downs with nine seconds left, Holman found Crouch for a 36-yard touchdown as time expired. Robertson’s extra point sent Macon into halftime ahead 49–7.

With a running clock throughout the second half, Macon added a third-quarter touchdown on Holman’s short forward toss to Javen Ellis. The Tigers completed the scoring in the fourth quarter when Hunter Isaacson connected with Allen for a 6-yard touchdown. Crouch then passed to Skyler Anderson for the two-point conversion.

Unofficial statistics credited Holman with 99 passing yards and three touchdown passes, along with 46 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Deuser finished with 74 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries, while Vanatta gained 102 yards on four attempts.

Crouch contributed a touchdown reception, a punt return touchdown and an interception. Allen caught two touchdown passes, giving the Tigers scoring contributions from six different players.

For Clark County, Wilson’s 49-yard touchdown reception highlighted the offense. Grady Webster was credited with three catches for 18 yards, Conner Waples with a 13-yard reception and Lukas Weaver with a 7-yard catch.

The Indians will remain home next Friday, Oct. 9, when they host Centralia for Senior Night.
