MEMPHIS, Mo.- An early morning crash temporarily shut down a highway in Scotland County Friday morning.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a Peterbilt semi pulling a bulk livestock feed trailer was being driven southbound on Highway 15 by a 52-year old male from Carthage, Illinois. Around 7:15 am, the semi ran off the right side of the roadway on Highway 15 between Route M and Route D about 3 miles south of Memphis and overturned. The semi received extensive damage.
The driver was trapped inside the cab and was extricated by the Scotland County Fire and Rescue Unit. He was transported by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
Scotland County Deputy Jason Moss told KMEM News that some of the feed was spilled onto the highway. This, along with the early morning fog, made traffic control at the scene a particular challenge.
The highway was closed for about 2 ½ hours while the unit was removed by Lakeside Towing. The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Scotland County Sheriff’s Department, Scotland County First Responders and Missouri Department of Transportation.
