Scotland County Woman and Toddler Extricated from Rollover Crash Sunday Morning

BIBLE GROVE, Mo.-  A Scotland County woman and a 4-year old toddler had to be extricated from their vehicle after a single-car crash Sunday morning.

Law enforcement officials report that an SUV was being driven eastbound on Route T about a half mile east of Bible Grove just before 9 am when the driver lost control.  The vehicle crossed the center line and then went off the left side of the roadway.  The SUV then struck a ditch embankment and became airborne, going over a fence.  Upon landing, the SUV rolled multiple times in a pasture, coming to rest on its side.

A bystander at the scene helped remove the toddler from his car seat without injuries.  First responders were forced to use stabilization airbags and the Jaws of Life equipment to extricate the driver, 23-year old Rebekah Lourcey.  She was wearing her seatbelt.

During the extrication, an Air Evac helicopter was summoned to the scene, but it was later determined that her injuries would not require air evacuation.  Instead, she was transported by Scotland County Ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville for treatment of moderate injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Scotland County Ambulance Service, Air Evac helicopter, Scotland County Rural Fire and Rescue, Rutledge Fire Department and First Responders, Scotland County Sheriff’s Department and Lakeside Towing.
